I have a deep love and respect for fairytales, folklore and mythology. One of my personal favorites comes from the shores of Scotland. The selkie sheds their skin to walk amongst the humans, if only for a night. Then they don their pelts and return to sea to play amongst their seal kin once more.
Swamped Princess
How can I come up for air?
“Swamped Princess” was given life in 2020 but she embodies something that has lived with me for a long time. She represents my person struggles with depression. The feelings of being weighted down, of drowning in your own muck. But she is also a reminder that the swamp can hold a life of it’s own. Through the slime, growth still happens, if only you give yourself the chance to come up for air.
